For the event Design Bazaar during the Arnhem Mode Biennale, we wanted to make the ‘Flexible ceramics’ of Bas technique public.
For this occasion we invented The Flexible Machine. An installation and production line to make the process of the flexible ceramics accessible and understandable.
We produced small wearable accessories, jewelry that expresses the materiality and possibilities of the technique.
Sponge, sewing, clay, dipping, drying, firing, selling.

Aline Helmcke is finally here. She is a Berliner. We all met at the Royal College of Art, where she was in the Animation department. We decided to start working together on a project (Module 2020) with the wish of setting up an animation group.
We will write a manifesto and program for it, but right now we are just super happy to start a collaboration with another great person.

Instead of searching for the people from a far distance in online communities, we decided to ask to our neighbours what we can offer to each other. So, we made The Open Door Event in Karel van Gelderstraat in Arnhem where our studio place is.
By research and experiment in our current local context we ask the community for the need and for their ideas about communicating and sharing in their lives.
Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone opens their doors to the neighbours...

We had an intense week of making the Module 2020 animation. We found out that a week is probably not enough to start something from zero: we wrote the text, made the animatic, made the models, made the studio in the bedroom and all the equipment (except lights), made a public call and find the models, made puppets and shoot all the scenes. There was absolutely no time for editing, voiceover and music.
But Aline is back in Germany doing the postproduction and says that the film is fantastic…

The Mobile Workshop Group (LOOKTHERE! & Henny van Nistelrooy) is going to run the workshop and present in the exhibition during Design Act, Moscow.
The workshop happens from 24th to 27th of August. The exhibition happens from 27th to 30th of August.

The Mobile Workshop Group explored Taganskaya square together with Russian designers, students and passers. Even though we did not have time to see a lot of Moscow, we think we really got to know it through our kind Russian friends. The workshop, the exhibition and the lecture were successful. Thank you very much to all workshop participants and Maria the organizer.
