I hate chairs is a project, which aims to answer questions such as: Am I a product designer? Does anyone need a new chair? How can I find a good reason to make one?
“Where there’s a need for an object I draw one.”
“A chair must support a certain weight to be functional. The choice of materials and the aesthetic qualities of it might be negotiable.”
There was this need of making an object, a chair, because it’s an archetypical design object, and a wish to create the best place to sit by making one.
An illustrator observes situations and an object maker is concentrated on functionality. The I hate chairs series is a combination of the two.
Where there are no chairs people choose the next best place to sit on. By pointing out these places (drawing chairs) all people can share their discoveries of the best spaces to sit.
